Our 1 Year Anniversary
One of our sweet friends wrote this on Facebook yesterday,"About to fly over that big blue ocean again. I feel like home is everywhere, and yet nowhere. That is the life of a pilgrim, awaiting our heavenly country." Emily
As soon as I read this in my newsfeed, I began tearing up. Her words so beautifully capture how I have been feeling after our last trip back to the states. Many have asked me, "How was your trip home?" "How does it feel being back?" "Do you miss America?"
An American friend who has lived here for over 12 years told me before our trip to America, "Sometimes people say that for us, our happiest place is in an airplane, in the air, in between the 2 nations that we love..." At the time, I thought that it was an interesting sentiment, but I couldn't yet relate because we had only been here less than one year and I couldn't wait to see family, friends, Target, bacon, Chick-Fil-A, and all things familiar, again. But even after just one year, I can totally relate to this concept. I feel like half of my heart is in America and half of my heart is here, in this new city. We had such a tremendous trip to America, but being back here in our 2 bedroom apartment, in this huge city feels wonderful and normal as well.I am not exactly sure what all of this means, but I thought I would share anyway.
Happy One Year Anniversary to my wonderful husband and my 5 amazing kiddos. I am so proud of how each of you have handled this past year with such grace and flexibility. We have experienced more than I ever thought possible together! Thank you Father for sustaining us here in this new land. Thank you to our friends that are here with us, we love each of you so much. Thank you to our generous family and friends who have partnered with us on this journey. I also would like to give an honorable mention to McD's and Dominos Pizza who have provided a comforting fix for our family when we have needed it.
