My husband went on a work trip this past week. He only travels about 4 weeks per year for his job and I am grateful. I love having him close by. A young, single friend stopped by to pick something up a couple of hours before my husband arrived home. I was straightening up the house and she could see my excitement for his return.

As she was leaving she remarked, "Wow, if I get married one day, I hope I am as excited as you when my husband comes home from a trip." I thought that was so sweet. But then I began thinking about the wives who might not be as excited about their husband's arrival when they return from a work trip. And then I started tearing up. Marriage is wonderful, but it can be really difficult too.

Our marriage has certainly had its ups and downs. Neither of us are perfect and our personalities are very different from each other...But we love each other. .Our deep love was cultivated because of our relationship with Jesus Christ. And because of our relationship with God, we choose not to give up on each other. Every day we have a choice to build our marriage on a strong foundation or to tear it down. Of course no person is perfect, but with God's strength, I believe that every marriage can thrive if we choose to keep working on our marriages and to not give up on each other.

Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) says , "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

No matter what state your marriage is in, I encourage you to grab onto hope today. Let's each think of one new way to bless our spouse today. Let's never give up building a strong foundation for our marriages.
